Hungary which is in the heart of Europe and tucked between
Austria and
Romania. The different regions of Hungary have very different terrains and cultures. Western
Hungary has a
Western European culture and
architecture. In the south, there are flat grasslands dusted with little farms and villages in areas formerly influenced by the

Tourist can take the train to
Hungary from the neighboring European countries or fly to Budapest. Budapest was originally two cities, Buda and Pest, separated by the
Danube River.
Art and culture always have been on the forefront in Budapest where visitors can explore
museums,
galleries, and
castles, but, most importantly, they can visit the internationally famous Hungarian State Opera House. In addition to beautiful stores for shopping, Budapest has a huge, exciting flea market with food stalls and artisans showing their crafts.
Travelers to
Hungary also should follow the
Danube River from Austria through Budapest and rural Hungary to learn about the varieties of lifestyles in the country.
Many American's know about
goulash, the Hungarian national dish, but they have not had the true goulash
(gulyas) until they try it in
Hungary. Other Hungarian dishes that visitors should sample are it sausage called
lecso, pastries, and pancakes filled with chocolate or curd cheese.
Hungary is a popular summer vacation destination because it has wonderful
summer festivals. Therefore, visitors to Hungary should plan ahead.
